Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny little town that is a bit sleepy. This West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a vast region that runs from Lachine all the way west. Many times, it is credited as the location of birth of Amanda Brugel but while that may be true, her time there was short. Brugel developed on Courtice located just outside Oshawa within Ontario. She initially wanted to be an actor, however, after a rapid increase in size, her friends could no longer dance along with her. In an article published in the Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. Once I surpassed all my male partners then I stopped. Dancers who have been in the past often switch to acting and in the instance of Brugel,, it was a suggestion by her teacher of drama. One of her teachers suggested she audition for an annual school production. It was her choice to take on the main role of Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. The show led her to receive the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. In the past 20 years, Brugel's work been featured on both the small and big screen. The most notable was her attention when she won her part as Rita in the award-winning television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was only seen on a few instances in the initial season of the series The Handmaid's tale. The only Canadian participant.
